Opponents continue to strike with big innings as the Oral Roberts University baseball team dropped its weekend series against Dallas Baptist with a 10-5 loss on Saturday in Dallas.

ORU dropped its season record to 6-8 overall, while the Patriots improved to 11-4.

Emmanuel Forcier extended his on-base streak to 14 games as he singled in his first three plate appearances of the afternoon and drove in a run. Tyler Boss had a single and RBI double, while Logan Domenico singled twice and scored.

Matt Brandy extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a blooper over the shortstop's head in the top of the eighth inning. He finished with a hit and an RBI.

Pepe Gomez (0-1) took the loss in relief of starting pitch Gavin Glanz. After allowing three runs on five hits in 4.1 innings, Glanz handed the ball off to Gomez who allowed two runs in a third of an inning.

Tevin Sonnier led the Patriots at the plate with two hits and three runs batted in, while Mike Wesolowski recorded three hits and scored twice. Josh Urban (1-0) earned the victory in his third appearance of the season in relief of starter Jay Calhoun.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to a three run lead in the second inning when, Domenico led the inning off with a single and scored three batters later on a single to center by Audie Afenir. With two outs in the inning, Forcier picked up his second single in as many innings to plate Migliaccio, followed by a Healy single to drive in Afenir to make the score 3-0 Golden Eagles.

Austen Colt led off the fourth inning with a single and scored on a groundout to short by Brandy to extend the lead to 4-0. The Golden Eagles recorded four lead off singles in the contest.

However, the Patriots would pick up six unanswered runs in the home half of the fourth and fifth innings. The stretch began in the bottom of the fourth as KJ Alexander scored on a groundout off the bat of Trevin Sonnier.

In the fifth, after Nash Knight and Wesolowski scored on bases loaded walks to cut the ORU lead to 4-3, Sonnier drove in two more runs with a single through the right side, giving DBU its first lead of the game, 5-4.

DBU added its fifth run of the inning to extend the lead to 6-4 as Alexander scored from third on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt.

In the bottom of the sixth, Wesolowski pulled a pitch down the line for a one-out double, scoring quickly on a single up the middle by Matt Listi to make the score 7-4 in favor of the Patriots.

DBU extended its lead to 10-4 in the bottom of the eighth with three runs on two hits and an ORU error. Knight scored the first run of the eighth when Daniel Salters was hit in the shoulder with the bases loaded. The next batter, Justin Wall, grounded to third to drive in Wesolowski. However, on a double play attempt, a throwing error on the turn allowed Austin Listi to score for the Patriots 10th run of the afternoon.

Boss added his second hit of the afternoon in the top of the ninth with a double into the left field corner to score Domenico, cutting the DBU lead to 10-5.

The Golden Eagles left 14 runners on base in the loss.
