Just over one year has passed since a neighbor, who goes by Teri, witnessed Michael Elder shoot and kill his son-in-law Gregory Lance Davidson. She's followed the case since that day, even testifying in court, and only now is she ready to talk.

"I just wanted to do the right thing. Because if it happened to me, I would want my neighbor to help me," said Teri.

Every morning Teri would fix a cup of coffee, plant her feet on the rose-colored carpet in front of her desk, and look out her window onto Miller Boulevard.

"This is the truth. This is what I saw," said Teri.

And what Teri saw on Feb. 20 2013 has changed more than her daily routine. The even changed her entire world.

"Screeches off. Michael runs after him, or after his truck I should say," said Teri. "After Michael left my view sight all I heard was boom! Boom! And I thought ‘Oh my God, What happened to him?'"

The shots were fired over an altercation about a truck.

"It broke my heart. It literally broke my heart."

Teri has since been trying to heal that broken heart.

"It has totally put me in a whirlwind."

And her healing process started with testifying in court.

"The DA calls me a hero. So did Gary's mom and grandparents."

So she could see through the verdict for Gary's family.

"I hope this brings some peace to them."

And peace to Teri so maybe one day, she could return to her desk by the window.

"I just turned the internet and everything off. I just couldn't do it. I'm just now getting to where I will talk about things, but I have a long way to go and so does the family,"

The jury has recommended a sentence of 15 years for Elder, but the formal sentencing will be held April 28.
