ORU's Glover, Billbury Named Southland All-Conference

Two Golden Eagles were honored for their terrific seasons on Monday.

Senior Shawn Glover and redshirt sophomore Korey Billbury were each honored on the Southland Conference All-Conference teams on Monday it was announced by the league office. Additionally, Glover earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team after finishing tied for first in blocks in conference games with 38.

Jacob Parker (SFA) was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year, while Coach Brad Underwood (SFA) earned Coach of the Year honors. Northwestern State teammates Jalan West and Zeek Woodley earned Defensive Player and Freshman of the Year, respectively. Rounding out the top awards, Jabari Peters (SHSU) was named the Newcomer of the Year.

Glover finished the year second in the league in scoring (21.7 ppg), fifth in blocks (1.6 bpg) and16th in rebounding (6.0 rpg). The MVP of the 2013 Cancun Challenge, Glover moved into the top 20 in scoring at ORU, amassing 1,147 points in his career, 19th on the all time scoring list. He scored his 1,000th point in his 58th game at ORU, tying Mark Acres for the ninth fastest to reach that mark in school history. His 672 points so far this year are the eight most in a single season, just two points behind Dominique Morrison's 674 in 2011-12. Glover's 22 20-point games this year is the most in the conference, and five more than anyone else in the league.

Billbury came on strong at the end of the year, scoring 20 points or more in nine of the last 12 games of the year, finishing ninth in the Southland in scoring at 15.0 points per game. Billbury also finished 10th in rebounding with an ORU-best 6.8 rebounds per game. In league games, Billbury was sixth in scoring (18.2 ppg) and sixth in rebounding (7.3 rpg). He had three games with at least 10 rebounds, including a 15-rebound effort at Saint Louis on November 21. One of his best games of the season was against New Orleans, when Billbury narrowly missed a triple double with 21 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.

The Golden Eagles will begin the Southland Conference Tournament on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. against the No. 7 seed McNeese State.
