TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies said they stopped a semi carrying $20 million worth of drugs into Tulsa Thursday morning.

The stop occurred in the 3100 block of South Memorial at about 12:30 a.m.

The Sheriff's Office and Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force said they spent six months investigating on when the shipment would arrive.

When deputies searched the semi, they found 42 pounds of heroin, 37 pounds of methamphetamine and and 33 pounds of cocaine.

Deputies believe the drugs were meant to replace drugs taken in a huge bust a few months back.

"They knew Tulsa was ripe; that it needed replenishing. All these addicts were going to be looking for a fix and so they knew if they could get their product into Tulsa that they would have a significant customer base," said Tulsa County Sheriff Major Shannon Clark.

Deputies arrested the driver, Restituto Morales, 51, of Homestead, Florida.

Major Clark said the trafficker went to great lengths to hide all of the narcotics in the semi. He said deputies worked tirelessly and spent many man-hours of painstaking manual labor to uncover all of the hidden narcotics.

The sheriff's office said the drugs likely came to Tulsa from Mexico.
