A 14-year-old Edmond teen is helping shine a light on something many of us don't think about.

Megan Gold is an eighth grader at Oklahoma Christian School. Even though she plays the flute, is involved in tennis, basketball, soccer, and cheerleading, she still finds time to deliver meals, as part of the Oklahoma County Senior Nutrition Program.

Last year, 175 volunteers donated more than 3,000 hours, but the need is greater. There is a waiting list of more than 800 seniors in Oklahoma County alone who would like to receive home-delivered meals.

For many recipients, it's their only meal of the day. Megan says her grandfather planted the seed for her.

"My mom called one night and he said he was having Vienna Sausages and M&M's, which is not the most healthy thing to eat. For seniors, nutrition keeps them out of the hospital, keeps them healthy, and it's vital to their health," said Gold.
