TULSA, Oklahoma -

No one was hurt in a fire at the Sheridan Point Apartments in the 6300 block of East 32nd Street Monday morning.

Firefighters got the call just after 5:45 a.m. They say when they arrived, flames were shooting out the windows and people were screaming for help.

They said the fire appeared to have started in a ground-floor apartment. The resident of that apartment reported seeing flames in the apartment's hallway.

Firefighters said two apartments sustained heavy fire damage and three apartments suffered smoke and water damage.

"Everybody got out safe, and we just had heavy fire going into the attic," said Captain Jerry Sivandon, Tulsa Fire Department. "The fire department done a great job; they did a quick attack on it."

The American Red Cross is assisting the families whose apartments were badly damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
