3.7 Magnitude Quake Shakes Near Perkins

PERKINS, Oklahoma -

A 3.7 magnitude earthquake rumbled just east of the town of Perkins, Okla., Wednesday afternoon.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS), recorded the quake six miles east of Perkins, or about 47 miles northeast of the Oklahoma City metro, at around 3:15 p.m., at a depth of three miles.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage associated with this earthquake thus far.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
