A northwest Oklahoma City woman, who's been trying to rebuild her home after an electrical fire in her kitchen last summer, said the city's doing her no favors.

Shannon Solomon said she's just generally frustrated. She said a contractor she paid thousands of dollars to rebuild her kitchen, disappeared with her money.

Solomon said she and her fiancé have been trying to rebuild the damaged areas of their house on their own and had been storing construction materials and tools under a car port in their driveway.

The city said after complaints by a neighbor, they gave Solomon two warnings in January and February to clear the clutter under that car port.

The city hauled all of those materials and tools two weeks ago.

Solomon claims she never saw the two final notices the city said it left on her door.

"It's just devastating," said Solomon. "It really is devastating."

City Spokesperson Kristy Yager said the city tries to work with residents when it can, but when neighbors complain, the city has to be willing to take action.

"Property owners have rights, but so do their neighbors," Yager said.
