TULSA, Oklahoma -

Hundreds of college and high school students spent last weekend developing video games in Tulsa. This was the second year for the Heartland Gaming Expo at the University of Tulsa.

High school and college students from across the state learn about game development and computer science.

Organizers say video game development is a growing industry in Oklahoma and the skills the students learn can be easily transferred to other computer based professions.

"Even if I don't end up in video games I would be happy doing, like, working for Microsoft - working on things that make lives easier - computers or CGI for movies, stuff like that would be fun for me," said Evan Vaverka, college senior.

The gaming industry has seen so much growth in Oklahoma that the University of Tulsa has added a game development major. It's scheduled to begin the fall of 2015.
