Emergency calls flooded dispatch as shots rang out at a metro club.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, a fight escalated into a shooting at a club in northwest Oklahoma City.

According to officials, the shooting started inside the club, but when officers arrived on the scene near N.W. 23rd and Portland, armed security guards were exchanging gunfire with the suspects in the Club Pulse parking lot.

At least four people were shot in the exchange and are suffering from non-life threatening injuries. Officers took three people into custody for questioning.

"We do have protocol for an active shooter, but that protocol is typically for a school or business, not for a club where potentially several people have firearms," said Captain Dexter Nelson with the Oklahoma City Police Department. "The officer did what she could to try and contain people and wait for backup."

Officers from the Will Rogers, Hefner and Spring Lake divisions responded to the shots fired call. Several vehicles were shot, as well as a house in the area.

No officers were injured in the exchange. The investigation is ongoing.
