TULSA, Oklahoma -

Witnesses report feeling an earthquake just before 9 a.m. in Tulsa. News On 6 is getting reports from residents in Tulsa, Skiatook, Catoosa, Sand Springs, Glenpool and Broken Arrow.

Viewer Julie Herron of Broken Arrow said she event felt this one move her chair as she sat in the second story of her home.

Muskogee resident Tina Lane said it moved the signs hanging at her workplace. Cindy Matheson Swearingen of Beggs said she didn't feel it, but her dogs went crazy.

The United States Geological Survey reports it was a 4.0 magnitude quake that took place at 9:48 a.m. just south of Langston. The Oklahoma Geological Survey says it was 4.2 magnitude quake.

Two other quakes registered a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 and 2.7 and were recorded at 9:25 a.m. and 10:04 a.m. in the same area.

Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and that damage is not likely from quakes below magnitude 4.0.
