Santana Lifts RedHawks In 10th Inning

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Domingo Santana hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning, then clinched a 4-3 Oklahoma City RedHawks win with a RBI single in the 10th inning against the New Orleans Zephyrs Sunday in front of 4,508 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Santana's home run to right field in the ninth inning was his first of the season. His game-winning RBI single in the 10th marked his eighth hit in the last four games for Oklahoma City (8-3).

Jon Singleton also homered in the RedHawks win, and finished with a game-high three hits. He also recorded two RBI to bring his team-leading total to 15 RBI, all of which have come in the last eight games.

Singleton kick-started the RedHawks offense in the first inning. His line-drive single to right field scored Austin Wates and gave Oklahoma City a 1-0 lead.

New Orleans (2-9) tied the game, 1-1, in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Justin Bour.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Singleton homered on a fly ball to the top of the right field wall to give the RedHawks a 2-1 edge.

A 50-minute rain delay soon followed.

Once play resumed, RedHawks pitcher Jason Stoffel intentionally walked Bour in the eighth inning to load the bases for Kyle Jensen. Jensen responded with a two-RBI double on a line drive to left field. Bour was tagged out at home on the throw.

Santana's solo homer in the ninth sent the game to extra innings. The RedHawks have now hit at least one home run in nine straight games this season, marking the first time an Oklahoma City team has done so since July 2010.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, Springer got on base with a single. Singleton followed with a double. New Orleans pitcher Chris Hatcher intentionally walked Max Stassi to load the bases for Santana, who singled to score Springer for the win.

RedHawks starting pitcher Nick Tropeano allowed two hits, walked one and struck out four through five shutout innings. Josh Zeid (2-0) recorded the win, pitching the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.

Hatcher (0-2) was charged with the loss for New Orleans.

The RedHawks took a 2-1 lead against New Orleans in their current series, which concludes with a 7:05 p.m. game Monday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
