The Oklahoma City RedHawks tried to mount a comeback by scoring four runs in the seventh inning, but the New Orleans Zephyrs responded with four runs of their own in an eventual 14-8 win against the RedHawks Monday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Zephyrs (3-9) scored a season-high 14 runs in the win to earn a split in the series finale between the teams.

New Orleans scored four runs in the first inning, then built a 10-3 lead through five innings as the RedHawks (8-4) allowed the most runs in a game since a 24-7 loss at Memphis July 22, 2012.

Catcher Rob Brantly went 5-for-5 for the Zephyrs, marking the first time a RedHawks opponent tallied five hits in a game since that July 2012 loss to Memphis.

Outfielder George Springer went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead Oklahoma City Monday.

New Orleans used consecutive two-RBI doubles in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead.

Designated hitter Jon Singleton recorded his team-leading 16th RBI of the season for the RedHawks on a RBI groundout in the first inning, cutting New Orleans' lead to 4-1.

The Zephyrs added one run in the third inning on a Brantly RBI double.

Springer belted his second home run of the season just over the center field fence in the fourth inning to cut the Zephyr lead to three runs. With Springer's home run, the RedHawks have now hit a homer run in 10 straight games for the first time since an 11-game streak with a homer June 13-23, 2010.

With two outs later in the inning, Eric Castro's single to center field scored Max Stassi to cut New Orleans' lead to 5-3.

The Zephyrs added five runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-3 lead. Brantly knocked a two-RBI single, which Mark Canha followed with a two-RBI triple. A RBI groundout by Juan Diaz put New Orleans ahead by seven runs.

The RedHawks scored four runs in the seventh inning. Ruben Sosa's sacrifice fly scored Jonathan Meyer. Max Stassi walked with the bases loaded to plate a run. Domingo Santana's RBI single allowed Gregorio Petit to score. Castro walked with the bases loaded again to bring home Oklahoma City's fourth run of the inning.

The Zephyrs scored four more times before the RedHawks added a run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

RedHawks starting pitcher David Martinez (2-1) allowed five runs on six hits, walked two and did not record a strikeout in the loss.

Zephyrs starting pitcher Bryan Evans (1-1) earned the win.

Oklahoma City fell to 1-2 in series finales this season. Monday's game also ended a stretch of eight straight games between the two teams.

The RedHawks next travel to Colorado Springs to open a four-game series against the Sky Sox at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday. The game also opens an eight-game road trip for Oklahoma City.
