A local dance instructor needs help after a painful foot condition has literally driven her to her knees.

Mindy Sexton is a 2005 Moore High School graduate who has taught dance in the Oklahoma City and Dallas areas since she was 15 years old.

Last July, she had what's called a Bunionectomy, which involves shaving down the main bone of the big toe joint. But complications following the surgery has left her in excruciating pain.

Another surgery is scheduled for next Thursday, but Sexton said she doesn't have the medical insurance to cover it.

"It's been horrible. I've been out of dance and out of a lot of money for a year now," said Sexton. "I have a lot of bills, and I don't get to contribute as much as I like to."

Her condition got so bad, she had to stop working as a bartender at a popular local restaurant. She was doing that to make ends meet, because her foot was too painful to continue to teach dance.

"It's bad. I can take pain pretty well, but I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy," Sexton said.

Friends recently established a fund to help Mindy at gofundme.com.
