Jon Singleton fell a single shy of the cycle and his seventh-inning homer capped a come-from-behind victory, as the Oklahoma City RedHawks defeated the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 8-6, Wednesday afternoon at Security Service Field.

The RedHawks (10-4) have taken the first two games of the series in Colorado Springs, and the win was the team's seventh straight on the road, matching the club record.

The Sky Sox (5-8) seemingly took control with a six-run bottom of the third inning to take a 6-1 lead. Trailing by five runs, the RedHawks started their comeback in the fourth. Singleton led off with a triple and Domingo Santana followed with an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to four.

The RedHawks would tie things up in the sixth inning. Jonathan Meyer knocked an RBI single, and two batters later Andy Simunic brought home another on a fielder's choice to make it 6-4.

With two on and two out, Austin Wates delivered a single up the middle to plate both runners and knot the score.

The Sky Sox benefitted from some RedHawks miscues with two outs in the bottom of the inning, putting two runners in scoring position for Tim Wheeler. On the ninth pitch of the at-bat, Raul Valdes (1-0) painted the outside corner for a called third strike, keeping the game tied.

That set the stage for Singleton to break the tie in the seventh. Max Stassi led off the inning with double, extending his hitting streak to 12 game, creating a new career best.

Singleton then hit a 3-2 pitch from Dan Houston (0-1) over the right field fence for his fifth home run of the season, putting the RedHawks in the lead for good.

Singleton finished 3-for-5 with three extra-base hits, collecting a double in the ninth inning.

With the lead in hand, the RedHawks bullpen allowed just one baserunner over the final three innings and Valdes, Jason Stoffel, and Josh Zeid combined retired the final seven Sky Sox hitters. Zeid induced three groundouts in the ninth inning to earn his second save of the season.

The tremendous bullpen effort started earlier when Jose Cisnero replaced Jake Buchanan in the third inning. Cisnero retired nine of the 10 hitters he faced and struck out six.

The four relievers combined to throw 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit with no walks and nine strikeouts.

The RedHawks started the scoring in the third inning with a sacrifice fly by Gregorio Petit to score Ronny Torreyes.

The lead was short-lived, as the Sky Sox scored six times in the bottom of the inning. Jason Pridie tied the game with an RBI triple, and Tim Wheeler followed with an RBI groundout to put Colorado Springs in front.

Ryan Wheeler drilled a solo homer to center field to make it 3-1, and after a single by Matt McBride, Ben Paulsen added an RBI double.

With Paulsen at second base and one out, Kyle Parker sent a ground ball to third base. The RedHawks got Paulsen in a rundown between second and third, but they committed two throwing errors on the play, allowing both Paulsen and Parker to score, pushing the lead to 6-1.

Although down by five at the time, the RedHawks eventually would collect their third win already this season after trailing by at least four runs.

The RedHawks and Sky Sox continue their series at 7:35 p.m. central time Thursday night.
