Community Foundation of South Jersey and Campbell Soup Foundation Support the Nonprofit Resilience Institute

HADDONFIELD, N.J., April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A partnership among The Community Foundation of South Jersey (CFSJ) in Haddonfield, the Campbell Soup Foundation in Camden and The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University's School of Business in Philadelphia, is providing nonprofit organizations in the nine county south Jersey region a comprehensive leadership-building series for their boards and senior staff.

"A nonprofit organization is only as strong as its executive leadership and board," said Sidney Hargro, CFSJ executive director, which launched the Nonprofit Resilience Institute in 2012, recognizing that strong nonprofit leadership is key for community improvement and sustainability.

"The first year of the Institute was so successful in its efforts to strengthen the region's nonprofit leadership with a dynamic, progressive series of learning experiences for teams of executive and senior staff and board members from S. Jersey nonprofits, that all the partners have come together again to continue this growth," Hargro added.

Beginning in May, up to four leaders from 10 different organizations, will participate in monthly educational programs focused on the skills nonprofit senior staff and board members need to enhance key aspects of their organization's management and operations.  The eight programs, as well as a facilitated learning circle comprised of executive directors participating in the Institute, will be held at the world headquarters of the Campbell Soup Co., in Camden.

The Institute opens with an address by David Grant, former director of The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation in Morristown, discussing the process of assessing an organization and improving performance.

Organizations that participate fully in the Institute are also eligible to apply for operating grants from the CFSJ.
