It's not exactly Bedlam, and you probably can't compare it to the Jenks-Union Backyard Bowl. But it is a cross-town shootout.

A team from Montereau is squaring off against the best from University Village in a Wii bowling competition.

It's all part of an inter-senior community Wii bowling league; five teams, they play each other twice.

Thursday it was University Village, the UV Strikers against Montereau's Holy Rollers.

Katie Eddins, the Wellness Coordinator, said it's good for them.

"They are competitive, it's fun, they get off the couch, they're active. It works on balance and coordination, it's win win," Eddins said.

Win being the key word.

Julius Stevak is what you might call the coach.

"We're in this for fun, but it's also somewhat serious," Stevak said.

There's even strategy. Montereau's holding out a couple of their best bowlers, preparing for the match next week against Burgundy Place.

Despite the strategy, the Montereau team's pretty good, but as I watched, I noticed one bowler picking up most of her spares and rolling a lot of strikes. So I thought I'd see if I could get a little advice. She said the secret is in the thumb.

"I just aim my thumb where I want to go," Pat Gideon said.

The winning team in the Wii bowling league will host a party for all the other teams in June, and of course, there's a trophy.
