Bridgestone, National Golf Course Owners Association and ClubCorp Among Leading Industry Partners

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fewer than three years since graduating from Golf Academy of America, Andrew Capelli has traveled to hundreds of golf courses and analyzed thousands of swings.

Capelli works for Bridgestone Golf. He began as a "golf ball fitting technician" helping players find the best type of golf ball to fit their swings. Today, his responsibility is much greater as Bridgestone's territory sales manager for western and central New York State.

"It's a fun job – you meet a lot of people and you visit a lot of new sites – and it's very rewarding," said Capelli, a graduate of Golf Academy of America's Myrtle Beach campus. "It's a little bit different than working at a golf course. And there's great opportunity for graduates."

Bridgestone is one of several prominent golf companies who have entered into corporate partnerships with Golf Academy of America. As part of its partnership, Bridgestone will hire at least 20 GAA graduates this year as golf ball fitting technicians. Company representatives also will visit individual campuses, speak to groups of students and keep students informed about specific job opportunities.

Golf Academy of America's national golf partners include the National Golf Course Owners Association, Troon Golf, PGA Tour Superstore, Club Champion and GolfTec.

"The interaction between our students and our corporate partners is very important," said national account executive Josh Lourie, who develops and manages employer relationships for Golf Academy of America. "Our students become familiar with different employers, form relationships and learn about opportunities."
