RedHawks Fall To Nashville

The RedHawks outhit Nashville on Saturday, but were unable to overcome an early deficit in a 6-3 loss.

The Oklahoma City RedHawks outhit the Nashville Sounds Saturday, but were unable to overcome an early deficit in a 6-3 loss in front of 6,423 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Sounds (11-11) scored three of their first five runs on solo homers, as the RedHawks (13-10) lost for the first time in 12 games this season when outhitting their opponent. Oklahoma City outhit the Sounds, 12-9, Saturday.

Nashville took the first lead of the game in the second inning. The Sounds loaded the bases on three straight walks by RedHawks pitcher Ross Seaton, who was making his first start of the season for Oklahoma City. Nashville then plated runs on a sacrifice fly by Hector Gomez and a groundout by Taylor Green to take a 2-0 lead.

The Sounds connected on their first home run of the night in the third inning when Eugenio Velez knocked a fly ball into the RedHawks bullpen in left field for a 3-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Nashville's Sean Halton and Hector Gomez each connected on solo homers to left field to give the Sounds a 5-0 lead.

Seaton (0-1) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs on three hits, including three home runs. He walked four and recorded one strikeout before being replaced by Rhiner Cruz with one out in the fourth inning.

Oklahoma City's three runs all came in the bottom of the frame.

Gregorio Petit doubled, then he scored two batters later on Max Stassi's sacrifice fly to right field. Domingo Santana followed with a two-run homer to center field, scoring Jon Singleton, who got on base with a single. Santana led the RedHawks with three hits.

Nashville added a run in the top of the fifth inning for a 6-3 advantage. Irving Falu led off the top of the fifth with a double on a fly ball to center field. Velez followed with a single on a line drive to left field to score Falu.

Nashville starting pitcher Brad Mills (2-0) earned the win, allowing three runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings pitched.

Nashville and Oklahoma City conclude their four-game series at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
