MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -

Muskogee Police say a teenager died after being run over by a freight train Sunday night.

Police said Marco Torres, 17, may have been crawling under a parked Union Pacific freight train just east of South Main and Elgin Streets when the train began to move.

Officers were called to the scene at 10:45 p.m.

The train that struck Torres was northbound and officers said an engineer of a southbound train notified police after spotting the body on the tracks.

Muskogee Police said they talked to people who had been with the teen prior to the incident and found evidence at the scene, both suggesting alcohol may have been involved.

Police said their investigation into the incident continues.
