A two-run home run by Gregorio Petit in the first inning provided all of the offense the Oklahoma City RedHawks needed in a 2-0 win against the Round Rock Express Tuesday in front of 3,512 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The RedHawks (15-11) took a 2-0 lead in their four-game series with the Express (13-12), earning their first shutout victory of the season.

The game lasted 2 hours and 7 minutes, marking the shortest nine-inning game for the RedHawks since a Sept. 3, 2012 game, also against Round Rock, that lasted 2 hours and 2 minutes.

RedHawks starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz combined with relievers Rhiner Cruz, Chia-Jen Lo and Josh Zeid for the shutout and eight strikeouts.

Foltynewicz allowed two hits, walked four and struck out three over 4.0 innings. Cruz (1-0) recorded his first win of the season, allowing two hits and striking out three over 2.0 innings.

Oklahoma City outfielder Robbie Grossman walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning. With one out, Petit then sent a home run into the bleachers in left field to score Grossman for a 2-0 lead.

Petit extended his hitting streak to 10 games and brought his team-leading season total to 32 hits. The home run also tied Oklahoma City with Round Rock for the league lead in homers (30) this season.

Round Rock starting pitcher Justin Germano (1-3) then retired 16 straight RedHawks batters.

Germano held the RedHawks to three hits, walked one and struck out six over 8.0 innings.

The four-game series between the teams continues at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
