Nationwide contest honors reporters whose published work contributed to a better and balanced understanding of business and finance topics
NEW YORK, May 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Summit Professional Networks announced that Research magazine was honored with an Award for Excellence in Financial Journalism from the NYSSCPA (New York State Society of CPAs) in the category of Trade Press-Opinion. The winning story was an article entitled, "Who's Kidding Whom," written by Research Senior Editor Kenneth Silber and focused on the risks of financial advisors "living in a bubble" and filtering out adverse information about public opinion and the political climate.
The nationwide contest - the 31st annual this year - recognizes reporters from the national and local press whose work was published, posted or broadcast in 2013 and contributed to a better and balanced understanding of business or financial topics. Winners were selected by judges from the NYSSCPA and the New York Financial Writers Association who ranked submissions on accuracy, quality and thoroughness of research. The full list of winners can be found here.
"Ken Silber consistently writes thought-provoking articles explaining the present, and warning about the future, by plumbing the lessons of the past," said James J. Green, Editorial Director for Summit Professional Networks' Investment Advisor Group. "While Research's readers regularly benefit from Ken's keen understanding of history, as do his colleagues, his excellent work has now been confirmed by the NYSSCPA. Well done!"
The 2014 EFJ Awards judges - from the New York Financial Writers Association and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants - included: Allen Liebnick, Cynthia Krom, Richard Hecht, Joel Lanz, Richard Koreto, Steve Foley, Terry Wooten, Elliot Hendler, Alan Weiner, Leah Spiro, Rick Kravitz, Scott Adair, George Victor, Lydia Trepelkova and Rumbi Bwerinofa.
This year's winners were honored during a luncheon ceremony May 1 in New York City.
