A 94-year-old Oklahoma City man who flew bombing missions during World War II received the highest honor you can get Thursday from the French Government.

Taffe Simon served in the same air squadron as Hollywood Icons Jimmy Stewart and Clark Gable.

Simon is suffering from congestive heart failure, and is in hospice care. But Thursday night at his home, Taffe was given the Legion of Honor medal from an official with the French government.  It came as a total surprise.

"Oh, Oh, Oh God, Oh God," Simon cried during the ceremony. "Thank you dear Jesus. Thank you for everything dear Lord! Thank you God!"

Taffe's wife, Ingrid, used to operate Oklahoma City's legendary Ingrid's Kitchen Restaurant.

"I just had my eyes on him," she said, "because he was very good looking. And I like good looking men."

Godspeed Taffe!
