A judge has scheduled a July 9 preliminary hearing for an Oklahoma man accused of killing a Northeastern State University professor last year.
Joshua John Schneider is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree arson and three counts of larceny. He's accused in the death of chemistry professor Tiffany Maher.
A probable cause affidavit alleges that Schneider met Maher through an online dating website. The affidavit claims that Schneider killed Maher, then set her body and house on fire.
The Tahlequah Daily Press reports that Schneider entered a not guilty plea to the charges Wednesday. Schneider was brought to Tahlequah from his state prison cell in Holdenville, where he's serving a 15-year prison sentence on separate charges.
