4.0 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Near Tonkawa

According to the Oklahoma Geological Survey, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 1:52 p.m. Its epicenter was located 17 miles west, southwest of Tonkawa.

An earthquake was recorded Friday afternoon near Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

According to the Oklahoma Geological Survey, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 1:52 p.m. Its epicenter was located 17 miles west, southwest of Tonkawa, 19 miles northeast of Enid, 29 miles west, southwest of Ponca City, and 75 miles north of Oklahoma City.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that the earthquake was 3.9 in magnitude. It was about two miles deep.

No injuries and damage were immediately reported.
