Thunder 105, Clippers 104: By The Numbers

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oklahoma City won a wild one 105-104 on Tuesday night at The Peake, rallying from 13 back in the final four minutes to top the Clippers in Game 5. Here are some key numbers:

4 – After a sub par defensive showing through the first four games and the majority of Game 5, OKC's defense showed up in a big way late, holding the Clippers scoreless on their final four possessions.

16 – The fourth-quarter lead Oklahoma City blew in a Game 4 loss on Sunday in Los Angeles.

13 – The fourth-quarter deficit OKC overcame at home in Game 5 to reclaim control of the series, outscoring the Clippers 15-3 in the final four minutes.

0:43 – As if the last four minutes weren't crazy enough, the final 43 seconds were just out of this world. Oklahoma City outscored Los Angeles 8-0 in the final 43 seconds of the contest, complete with five quick points from KD, a Reggie Jackson steal and collision at the rim, a controversial ruling, Westbook getting fouled on a 3 and hitting all three free throws to take the lead, and concluding with a Serge Ibaka steal from Chris Paul. Wild stuff.

17.6 – Kevin Durant's field goal percentage through the first 44 minutes on 3-of-17 shooting. His percentage at the time would have set a new all-time playoff low for No. 35 but…

60 – Kevin Durant's field goal percentage (3-of-5) for 10 points in the final four minutes, including a massive five consecutive points in the final 40 seconds to put OKC in position for its remarkable victory.

0 – As good as KD was in the final stretch, that was Russell Westbrook for the entire game. No. 0 has had some great performances in his playoff career, but that might rank as his most important. Westbrook finished with 38 points on 11-of-23 shooting and his aggression was highlighted by his 14-of-16 mark at the free-throw line. No free throws more important than his final three, which he sank effortlessly to put OKC up 105-104 with six seconds left. He also chipped in six assists, five rebounds and disrupted the Clippers into a turnover that set up OKC's game-clinching possession. Unbelievable effort all around from Westbrook.

50 – How good was Russell all game? Well, until the final four minutes he kept OKC in it by scoring 50 percent of the team's total in the second half, pouring in 18 of the Thunder's 36 points over that stretch.

22 – Interestingly, Oklahoma City outscored the Clippers by 22 points in the paint (44-22) on Tuesday night.

6 – Minutes played in the first half by Serge Ibaka because of foul trouble, finishing with zeroes in points, rebounds, assists and blocks. He made up for it in the final two quarters, scoring eight points, grabbing seven boards and picking up two big blocks.

3 – Oklahoma City had lost three-consecutive Game 5s at home in the playoffs coming in but bucked that trend in dramatic fashion.

8 – The Clippers have now lost eight-consecutive Game 5s in the playoffs when the series is tied 2-2 entering the contest.

5 – Turnovers for Clipper point guard Chris Paul in the game. Two of them came in the final 13 seconds.

1 – Victories needed by the Thunder to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the third time in four years.
