Wednesday Morning Update

Posted: Updated:

We're tracking a weak upper level wave bringing some showers and rain to portions of southeastern and east-central OK this morning.  This area is very close to Tulsa but most of the precip is located to our east.  This activity will remain for the next few hours but should quickly move eastward by midday morning out of the state.

The clouds associated with the low may reside across the eastern third of the state for most of the morning but should clear ( at least partially) by midday to afternoon with some sunshine.  This would allow temps to move into the mid-60s.  Northwest winds will remain at 10 to 20 mph for the day.

The upper air flow from the northwest will bring a few disturbances into the area Thursday through the weekend with a slight chance of showers or storms daily from Thursday through Sunday.  The coverage will remain small but a few scattered thunderstorms will be possible.  We'll keep the pops "centered up" and only at 20% at this point in the forecast cycle.

The temps will slowly warm into the 70s for afternoon highs and into the upper 40s and lower 50s for morning lows from Friday through the weekend.

Sunday into early next week much warmer air will move back into the area with highs in the 80s to near 90 by Monday into Tuesday.

The pattern from the northwest will allow these scattered storm pops for the next few days. Next week the flow will be from the southwest and will be favorable for bringing storms back to the region late next week along with windy, warm, and muggy conditions.

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 66 from 4:57pm.

The normal daily average high is 79 and the low is 59.

Our daily records include a high of 93 from 1911.  The daily record low is 44 from 1976, 1953, and 1924.

You'll find me on Facebook and Twitter.

I'll be discussing the forecast on numerous Radio Oklahoma News Network affiliates across the state through the morning hours.

You'll also hear our forecast on a number of Tulsa Clear Channel radio stations including KMOD, The Twister, The Buzz, and The Beat.

Have a super great day!
