Second Quake Rumbles Near Medford

Another small earthquake struck near the town of Medford, Wednesday evening.

The first earthquake rumbled just after 11 a.m. The USGS recorded the first quake as a 3.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located about five miles northeast of Medford, at a depth of three miles.

A second earthquake struck around 7 p.m. 13 miles to the southeast of Medford. This quake weighed in at a 3.0 on the Richter scale, and shook at a depth of just over three miles.

No damage or injuries have been reported with either earthquake.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
