TULSA, Oklahoma -

Close to a thousand people gathered in Tulsa Thursday to raise money for the Tulsa area Salvation Army. The special guests were former First Lady, Laura Bush and her daughter, Jenna Bush-Hager.

The Bush family spoke a lot about family and a lot about Jenna's one year old daughter.

It was an enjoyable night as it was the Salvation Army's largest annual fundraiser. The tables went from $5,000 to $75,000 to reserve.

Laura Bush and daughter Jenna gave the keynote speeches at the annual William Booth Society dinner. The former First Lady is an advocate for literacy, education and human rights across the globe. Jenna is a national news correspondent and advocate for the Salvation Army.

The fundraiser brought in money for all the organizations programs, including the Boys and Girls Club and the Christmas toy drives.

In total, hopes were to raise $1 million dollars at the fundraiser.

"This event will raise about one-tenth of our annual budget. That's how significant this event is. So, if this event does well, then the Salvation Army should be able to continue to meet need on a more broad scale," said Tulsa Salvation Army Commander, Jim Taylor.

In Tulsa, the Salvation Army is made up of nine local facilities, with six Boys and Girls Clubs.
