MOORE, Oklahoma -

A family left without a home after the May 20th tornado tore through the Briarwood neighborhood, is getting some much needed help. Dozens of volunteers showed up today and put up the walls of a new home.

This is one of the hundreds of planned rebuilds down in tornado ravaged areas. The house is being built to new strict building codes and they're making a lot of progress.

"It's a blessing to be here," said Olga Cordero.

Cordero and her daughters literally help to build their new home with Habitat for Humanity. The Corderos lost almost everything in the May 20 tornado. Their house was just two blocks from Briarwood Elementary School and it took a direct hit.

"I came back home and there was no home. I was so in shock, I don't know how to describe how bad it was, but I just decided to start helping others," said Cordero. "I forgot about the house. I knew my house was gone so I should just leave it alone, grab my kids and start helping others."

Cordero wanted to rebuild close to her old house because her entire family lives in the area.

"To see all these people helping me just broke my heart, not because of sadness, but just the happiness that so many people want to help others and that makes me feel so thankful," Cordero said.

Across the street from the construction site stands another Habitat for Humanity house for another tornado victim.

"She's helping me. She's here with me too. My kids are helping her paint that house. It is a bond already. We already are friends and we're close, we're neighbors and that's so amazing."

The walls are up. The windows are being cut out and they're expecting to finish the house and have it move-in ready by mid-July.
