Police are looking for a driver they say hit one person with his car and attacked another with a machete in the 5500 block of North Hartford Avenue in Tulsa. One person is in the hospital after the assault.

Tulsa police say they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call around 8:30 p.m. Two people were walking southbound on the street when a car hit one of them from behind.

Sergeant Brett Bilyeu said one victim ran to get a stick to defend himself and when he returned the driver was attacking the other pedestrian with what the victims described as a machete.

That victim was taken to the hospital with a broken femur, while the person hit by the car refused medical treatment, police say.

Police say the victims didn't know the driver.

No names or vehicle description have been released.
