Wrong-Way Driver Arrested After Hitting OKC Police Cruiser

OKLAHOMA CITY -

A driver going the wrong way on a busy interstate in Oklahoma City crashed his car into a police officer's patrol car early Friday morning. 

It happened at about 2 a.m. Friday. The driver was heading the wrong direction on I-44 near Western Avenue when he hit the officer.

The Oklahoma City police officer is doing just fine. His patrol car was basically side-swiped by the suspect's car.

Police say the driver did not stop after hitting the police cruiser, he kept on going. Police were on that suspect's tail and took him into custody near N.W. 63rd and Bryant about 30 to 40 minutes later.

Police believe he may have been driving while intoxicated.

Police have not identified the suspect or the officer involved in the crash.
