Drillers Crushed By RoughRiders

Nothing seemed to go right in Frisco for the Tulsa Drillers Friday night, who lost a blowout to the Frisco RoughRiders by a final score of 13-0. A three-run third inning and a five-run fourth inning in conjunction with a very strong performance from Frisco starter Luke Jackson propelled the RoughRiders to a victory in the rubber match of the three-game series at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

On the other hand, everything seemed to go right for the RoughRiders, who were very efficient on offense, scoring 13 runs on 13 hits.

The 13-run margin was the largest in any game of the Drillers' season.

Both teams committed an error in the opening frame of Friday night's contest, but only Frisco was able to capitalize on the opportunity for a run. Guilder Rodriguez, who would have been out at second had it not been for a missed catch error by Joey Wong, scored on a sac fly from Trever Adams, putting the RoughRiders up 1-0 after one inning.

Four Frisco hits and a wild pitch from Tyler Anderson resulted in three runs in the third inning for the RoughRiders.

A grand slam from Adams in the fourth capped a five-run inning that put the game out of reach early. Adams had quite the night Friday, driving in a whopping six runs by himself.

The Drillers could not get to Jackson at all, who shutout Tulsa over seven innings, allowing only three hits and one walk while striking out four.

The Drillers were held to only four hits on the night, two of which came off the bat of Brian Humphries.

Tyler Anderson only lasted three innings, giving up four runs, three of which were earned. Ryan Arrowood relieved Anderson, and ended up on the wrong side of Adams's grand slam.

The Drillers had to use six pitchers to get through eight innings of work Friday.

Tulsa will look to bounce back quickly as they now head to Midland for the final three games in their road trip. Richard Castillo will get the ball for the Drillers, his first start since returning from his short stint to the DL, while the RockHounds will send Nate Long to the mound. First pitch at Security Bank Ballpark is scheduled for 7 p.m.
