The state medical examiner is working to identify two people who died in a fiery crash in Caddo County, early Saturday morning.

According to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on county road 2660, just south of country road 1360, near Anadarko.

Troopers say the victims' vehicle was heading southbound on CS 2660 at an unsafe speed when it departed the roadway to the right for an unknown reason. The driver overcorrected and departed the roadway to the left where it struck a fence, then a tree before bursting into flames.

The driver and the passenger in the vehicle, only described as a 2004 Ford Explorer, were pinned inside the vehicle for approximately three and a half hours before being freed by the Anadarko Fire Department.

Both victims were transported to the Medical Examiner's officer by Stillwell, LTD. Their names are being withheld pending positive identification by the ME.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
