Guts Church and the Mayor of Tulsa were at ONEOK Field to announce what they're calling one of the biggest days of giving the city has ever seen.

For Thursday's announcement, there were 100 bikes on the pavilion at ONEOK Field, but next Friday, what they're calling the Day of Giving, Guts Church said there will be 1,200 bikes, 10,000 bags of groceries, dozens of medical professionals and a prominent Christian speaker, all free to the public.

Guts Church Pastor Bill Scheer says he has no idea how many will show up on June 6, but they'll have hundreds of volunteers ready to help.

They're teaming up with Christian speaker and author Joyce Meyer, who will be speaking for free.

Scheer said anyone in the community is welcome, and there aren't any forms to fill out.

He says they'll be giving away 1,000 bikes, 10,000 bags of groceries and offering free dental, medical and psychiatric care.

"And here's what it is: Anything that someone in need would require, we want to offer it," Scheer said. "And here's why -- so that we can bring hope."

During the news conference Thursday, Mayor Dewey Bartlett thanked the pastor for his commitment to the community. He's just one of the government officials who will be there.

The Governor, state Attorney General and Congressman Jim Bridenstine have all said they will be there.

"We want help people win. And winning for us is that people will leave here so full of hope that it might change the direction of their life," Scheer said.

Guts Church essentially already has two food pantries where it gives away free groceries every Friday.

But he says this is the first time the group has given away items on this scale.

The Day of Giving starts at 10 a.m. next Friday at ONEOK Field; the doors will open at 9:30 a.m.
