Oklahoma baseball's Sheldon Neuse has been named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America Team by Collegiate Baseball News. Neuse, who started 46 games at third base and saw action at shortstop and pitcher, is one of three players to earn the honor as a multi-position player.

Neuse completed his first season as a Sooner as the only player to start all 58 games. He hit in the middle of the order, primarily third, for the entire season. A .304 hitter, Neuse was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 First Team. He led the Sooners with 47 RBI and a .521 slugging percentage on 17 doubles, seven triples and seven home runs.

Neuse's seven triples are a freshman record at Oklahoma, while his 17 doubles are the second most and one behind Matt Bose ('02) for the record. His 73 hits and 43 runs scored both rank third among Sooner freshmen.

In the Big 12 Tournament, Neuse hit .500 (8-for-16) with seven RBI and was named to the All-Tournament Team. He drove in the game-tying and –winning run in a ninth-inning walk-off against Texas Tech in an elimination game.

Earlier in the season, Neuse was twice named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

He is the 13th Sooner to receive Freshman All-America recognition.
