More Thunderstorms, Rain For Northeast Oklahoma

Severe thunderstorms have moved out of western Oklahoma into the eastern half of the state Friday morning.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says the chance for severe thunderstorms and heavy rain will remain high for northeast Oklahoma throughout the morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the region through Sunday. Counties included in the watch are Chautauqua and Montgomery in southeast Kansas and Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington counties in northeast Oklahoma.

The NWS has also issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until noon for Cherokee, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Muskogee, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Pittsburg, Rogers, Sequoyah, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington counties in Oklahoma.

Crone says a front is expected to move out of Kansas and into Oklahoma Friday raising the chances for more thunderstorms Friday evening and Saturday morning. He says some of those storms could produce heavy rain, hail and damaging winds.
