TULSA, Oklahoma -

An American Airlines jet made an emergency landing at Tulsa International Airport Tuesday afternoon.

Airport spokesperson Alexis Higgins said the Boeing 767 was on a maintenance flight with only four people on board.

The pilot set the plane down safely just after 12 p.m. Osage SkyNews 6 pilot Will Kavanagh said the landing was excellent, leading him to believe the mechanical problems were relatively minor.

American Airlines spokesperson Andrea Huguely said the plane was in the air for about 45 minutes when the pilot reported a light on the panel indicating a "slat disagree," referring to slats on the front of the aircraft wing.

The pilot returned to the maintenance base where they are troubleshooting the problem.

Emergency crews were waiting as the plane landed on the airport's largest runway.

There was no flight number as the plane was apparently being serviced at the Tulsa airport.

It's the second time in less than a month that a plane has experienced flight control problems in the air, prompting it to make an emergency landing.
