BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -

A children's museum, a skate park, and a fire house could be headed to Broken Arrow if residents approve a $60 million bond issue. The biggest selling point for B.A.'s 750 adult softball players is a new sports complex.

A little softball after work is a big deal for adults in Broken Arrow, so much so, that there are more teams and players than can play on the city's two fields, but a new proposed park for the city could be their home run.

Brad Gordon is passionate about adult softball in Broken Arrow.

"When you become an adult, what do you go do? I'm going to go play what I played when I was a kid," he said.

He's not the only one. The program in Broken Arrow is, somewhat, storied. Broken Arrow hosted the adult softball Super World Series in 2010, and now the league has outgrown the city's two fields.

"We're just at capacity, and we can't grow anymore and we've actually had to turn teams away," Gordon said.

There are co-ed, men's, women's and church leagues, and Gordon wants to add seniors.

"And then we have fans that come out and visit the concession stand and watch the ball games," said Gordon. "We probably need five to six additional fields besides these two."

The league would get five new fields with Chisholm Trail South Park to be voted on in the August bond election.

Krista Flasch with the City of Broken Arrow, said, "Residents of Broken Arrow have told us that having great, high quality parks is a big deal for them."

The $5 million park would also include a children's museum, fishing dock, trails, a skate park, fire station and a handicapped field specifically for Special Olympics.

Gordon said if voters approve the bond, the folks at the Super World Series would seriously consider another World Series in Broken Arrow.

"They want to see us build a park here," he said. "So it's a big deal for Broken Arrow."

The bond election is August 26th. It includes many other projects proposed by the city, like a dog park, police and fire training center, and the widening of several city streets.
