Two armed robberies committed on the same night has detectives at two local agencies looking for the same suspect.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office released surveillance photos of the suspect on Wednesday.

"We want this to stop," said Lt. Jimmy Brewer with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office. "We don't want it to get worse and progress."

Lt. Brewer said the same man robbed two different E-Z Marts in Shawnee within two hours of each other early Monday morning.

He said the weapon used in the crimes was a knife.

Lt. Brewer said the clerk pulled the cash drawer out, set it on the counter, and the suspect grabbed what bills were there then took off running.

"He cooperated with the suspect and that's what I think everyone is encouraged to do," Lt. Brewer said about the clerk. "We don't want anyone to get hurt or suffer any injuries due to these thieves coming in," he added.

Detectives said the suspect actually dropped some bills as he ran out the front door, and detectives collected those as evidence.

While the Sheriff's office was working the first scene, Shawnee Police got called out to the second armed robbery.

Shawnee Detective Charles Swantek said the clerk was in the back of the store and returned to find the suspect stealing packs of cigarettes, holding a knife and demanding cash.

Detectives say the man was wearing the same clothing in both robberies and the methods were the same, too.

No one was injured in either of the robberies.

"We've had a great success rate and it may take some time, but we are going to continue the investigation and we will get him," Lt. Brewer added.

If you recognize the man in the photos, call the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office at 405- 273-1727 or Shawnee Police at 405-273-2121.
