MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -

A Silver Alert has been canceled after a Muskogee woman was found alive following a week-long search.

Muskogee police said Eileen Springer, a stage 4 cancer patient who had last been seen on June 4, was found early Thursday morning. Her vehicle was stuck in the mud along a rural road east of the Muskogee Turnpike and north of Highway 62 by the Arkansas River.

A passerby, who didn't have a cell phone, was assisting Springer when a Fort Gibson police officer saw them and stopped, MPD said in a news release.

Springer was taken to a hospital and while she was responsive and talking, her current condition is unknown, police said.

The man who discovered Springer said he saw the vehicle in the same location about three days ago, but didn't realize it was occupied until he stopped to check inside on Thursday.

Before that, the last sighting of Springer was June 4 at a Muskogee grocery store. A Silver Alert was issued, and on Wednesday, officers released surveillance footage of her at the store. MPD also pleaded with the public to be on the lookout because they had run out of leads.

MPD Cpl. Michael Mahan said it is believed Springer was disoriented after leaving the grocery store, got lost off the roadway and her vehicle was stuck in the mud 50 yards off the road.

Springer apparently was afraid to leave the car and walk a long distance for help because she also suffers from Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and didn't have her inhaler. She survived for seven days on the food she purchased at the store, officials said.
