For the second time this week, Oklahoma City police are investigating an officer-involved shooting.

An officer shot the suspect inside a laundromat at N.W. 17th and Portland.

It started at a tattoo parlor across the street when witnesses said a man walked up with a knife, yelling and waving the weapon around just after 6 p.m.

"He was just walking down the street and started acting crazy," business owner Steven Blundell said.

Witnesses called 911, and that was when the man went across the street and into the Coin-A-Matic laundromat.

When the first officer went in after him, police said the suspect took the officer down and started beating him.

Police said the officer shot the suspect during the attack.

The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The officer did not need to go to the hospital.

"It's wild, just crazy that someone you see every day gets shot," said Blundell. "He never seemed confrontational or anything."

Witnesses told News 9 the suspect lives nearby and comes to the shopping center almost daily to walk his dogs.

The names of the suspect and officer are not being released yet.

The officer will be placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated, which is routine.
