TULSA, Oklahoma -

Father's Day may come with a few thunderstorms this year. A morning round of thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall to some sections of northeast Oklahoma while a better chance of severe storms returns later in the day.

The showers and storms that dropped over three inches of rain in some northern Oklahoma counties are expected to bubble up again in the humid afternoon heat.

"Hail and wind are the primary concern," said WARN Team meteorologist Mike Grogan. "It won't be an all-day washout - just prepare for a storm if you're heading out with Dad."

Nowata County had 3.34 inches in the 24-hour period before 2 p.m. Sunday, according to the Oklahoma Mesonet. Mayes County reports 3.13 inches.

Viewers in Nowata and Talala are reporting flash flooding.

Tulsa and areas to the north are under a low risk Sunday afternoon with the highest likelihood along the Kansas state line. If you have plans outside, be mindful of the threat of a few isolated showers and storms.
