Northwest Center CEO, Tom Everill and best-selling author, Monica Holloway join forces to enhance the way big businesses recruit and hire talent
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) June 19, 2014
Northwest Center and best-selling author, Monica Holloway have collaborated on a new op-ed article that has been featured in Autism World Magazine. The piece, titled Top Benefits to Businesses Employing People with Autism shares expert advice from Northwest Centers CEO, Tom Everill on the many benefits of engaging an inclusive workforce.
Author, Monica Holloways own son, Wills, has a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. While traveling to Seattle to visit the Northwest Center last year, she was delighted to see a broader and brighter future for children like Wills, and for thousands of others dealing with ASD. That visit has led to a continuing collaboration with Northwest Center to spread their message nationally and now, globally.
A number of major corporations like Walgreens, Proctor & Gamble, Glaxo Smith Kline, and IBM that first began hiring people with disabilities as a matter of corporate social responsibility are now integrating their workforces as fast as they can for bottom line economic reasons.
In their own social enterprise model, Northwest Center has demonstrated that productivity, quality, and profit improvement are the direct result of seeing people with Autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other conditions not as problems to be solved but as valuable members of the team - members with unique qualities that often include extraordinary focus and obsession with detail.
The unique capabilities of an inclusive workforce have become critical strategic advantages for large tech companies and other major corporations. As the number of children born worldwide with Autism and other intellectual delays continues to increase, it is vitally important, now more than ever to build the foundation for an inclusive workforce that leverages the unique skills of the next generation.
