Oklahoma City police are looking for two men who stabbed a store clerk during a beer run turned robbery.

Turns out the clerk got fed up and was trying to chase the suspects down, and it was all caught on tape.

It all took place early Tuesday morning at the 1st Place Convenience Store at N.W. 6th and Walker Avenue.

The clerk's son told News 9 these two suspects have taken things from the store before, but when they grabbed this case of beer, that was the last straw.

The surveillance camera inside the store got a pretty good look at the two men as they sauntered into the store. One was wearing a dark blue T-shirt, the other a white T-shirt and long dark shorts.

"We're confident that someone will recognize them and be able to contact police," said Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow with the Oklahoma City Police Department, who is investigating the incident.

In the surveillance video, you see the two make a bee line for the door with the beer in tow.

Seconds later, you see the clerk head for the door as well to chase them down.

The clerk's son told News 9 his dad got into his car to go after them, after he saw them run to the school and construction zone across 6th street.

Then one of the thieves dropped the beer on the ground, and when the clerk went to retrieve it, one of the suspects stabbed him.

"The victim said at the time it happened, he believed he was just being punched, he did not even realize he had been stabbed," Sgt. Wardlow said.

In fact, the clerk went back into the store and started helping other customers, who then noticed he was bleeding and told him he was hurt.

That's when the clerk finally called police.

Oklahoma City police say you should never, ever confront a robber or a thief.

They say it is just better and safer to let them go, and let an officer take it from there.

"Get the best description that you can," said Sgt. Wardlow. "If there's a vehicle, get a tag number you can give that to officers. But don't ever put your life in danger. Obviously in this case, he was very lucky to be able to live to tell the tale."

We checked, and police have been called out to the 1st Place Convenience Store more than 50 times in the past year alone.

If you recognize the two men in the surveillance video, call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
