TULSA, Oklahoma -

No other news organization in Green Country is dedicated to taking you high above the scene of breaking news and severe weather so you can see the whole story as it's happening.

Now, you may feel more like you're actually there.

Our team of engineers and technicians just finished installing the latest camera technology. This new tool allows us to bring you live pictures in crystal clear high definition.

As far as five miles away, you'll see it up close and with four times greater resolution.

Osage SkyNews 6 HD pilot Will Kavanagh is excited about it.

"A tornado that's about 3-to-5 miles out in the horizon, we're going to be able to zoom in and give you extreme detail and contrast as if you're sitting 60-to-100 meters away, right up close to that tornado," Kavanagh said.

Along with tornado images that are more vivid, Osage SkyNews6 HD pilot Will Kavanagh is better able to provide life-saving information.

"We're going to be able to extend out farther, give you greater detail on the ground as to where this track is actually going on the ground and be able to overlay it with roads and street addresses so you can see this track as it moves throughout Green Country."

And Osage SkyNews 6 HD is better equipped to cover and even assist in breaking news like the recent trouble on a passenger jet trying to land at Tulsa International. Controllers asked nearby pilots if the jet's landing gear was down.

"With this new HD camera at that 5-mile range, we're going to be able to zoom in and help people through emergencies," Kavanagh said. "Not only with American Airlines as its coming in on final, but in other areas: fire, rescue, searches."

The sharper detail and the camera's leading edge stability system allow us to pinpoint objects, important during water rescues, Kavanagh said.

"We're going to be able to see even the shadows underneath the water, even from the fish that are swimming in there,"

Another priority, keeping you and your family safe during wildfires.

"This camera's going to reach out, see the detail of where this fire is moving and what roads it's crossing from several miles away."

And it's operation as of today.
