Tuesday's election is certainly one of the most anticipated Oklahoma primaries in recent memory, with several heated races going right down to the wire. The GOP nomination for US Senate is definitely one of them.

Seven republicans threw their hats in the ring when Dr. Tom Coburn announced he would be vacating his seat in the US Senate two years early. That's a lot of candidates, but, looking at the polls, it would seem only two have a realistic shot at winning.

Fifth District Congressman James Lankford and former state House Speaker TW Shannon were front and center in our News 9/News on 6 debate last week. As similarly conservative as the two are on many issues, Obamacare, education, immigration, they've tried to give voters a way to tell them apart.

Shannon says the difference is that Lankford has voted with the majority in Congress to approve budgets that increased the national debt.

Lankford says the difference is experience, and understanding that, in Washington, it's not as simple as just saying 'No'.

One candidate who could potentially muddy the water enough to force Shannon and Lankford into a runoff, is Tea Party favorite Randy Brogdon

We should also mention there are three democrats vying for their party's nomination in this race, as well as, one independent.

Of course, we will have complete coverage Tuesday right here on News 9 and News9.com. The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
