A woman is in custody after a stabbing at the Bradford Apartments Thursday morning.

Officers said the 41-year-old victim was stabbed 10 to 12 times just before 6 a.m. at the complex in the 500 block of East 32nd Street North.

Police said the incident began after the victim told her 14-year-old daughter to ask a woman in a downstairs apartment to turn down some loud music. They said the woman in the apartment got upset, prompting the teen's mother to come to her defense. The woman, later identified as Olympia Jones, then attacked the mother with a knife, stabbing her in the chest and back.

When police arrived, Jones was still holding the knife. They say the victim's daughter was not injured.

EMSA took the victim to the hospital in critical condition. Her condition has improved to serious.

Jones was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon.

Police continue to investigate.
