TULSA, Oklahoma -

Police are investigating a homicide in Muskogee after they said a man came home Wednesday to find a woman, shot to death on his front porch.

People who live near the crime scene said they are fed up with that kind of violence in their city.

Police said a man came home and found Rachelle Louise Hayes shot to death on his front porch. The man who lives here claims he doesn't know Hayes, and people who live on this sparsely populated street say they didn't know her either.

Police said they originally thought Hayes was homeless, but now they say she had a Muskogee address.

We couldn't find anyone who knew her.

We tried to track down the homeowner where her body was found, but no one came to the door.

We did find blood stains on the concrete porch.

Chris Logan lives just down the street, and he says he didn't see anything unusual or hear any gunshots the night Hayes was found dead.

But he says he and others could have confused gunshots for fireworks.

"Firecrackers... they've been popping off all week so they probably had people thinking it was just fireworks," Logan said.

Other neighbors say they were gone that night... and while they don't know who Hayes is -- their street is relatively busy.

"Yeah, people walk the streets here all the time..." neighbor Jovan Hagerman said.

Logan says this incident, along with other recent crimes in the area, have him looking for a new place to live.

"This block is real dark at night and I just don't feel safe here no more," Logan said.

But it's not just his part of town, he says the entire city is becoming too crime-ridden to feel comfortable anywhere.

"Here lately it's just been getting kind of crazy around here," Logan said.

This is the fourth homicide in Muskogee this year.

While Muskogee police haven't released any details about a possible suspect, neighbors here believe police do have a suspect in mind.
