Oklahoma State running back Desmond Roland and quarterback J.W. Walsh have been named to the 2014 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch Lists for the running back and quarterback awards, respectively.

Roland is a senior on the 2014 OSU squad and led the 2013 team in rushing despite starting the season as a backup. He also led the team with 16 touchdowns, including four in a 219 rushing yard effort at Iowa State.

Walsh, a junior heading into the 2014 season, owns a career adjusted quarterback rating of 80.1, which ranks among the best in country for quarterbacks returning in 2014.  His 170.11 quarterback rating in 2012 not only led the Big 12 and ranked fourth nationally, but was also the fourth best ever by a freshman.

No other school has a longer Performance Award history than Oklahoma State. Perrish Cox (2008 kickoff returner), Dez Bryant (2008 wide receiver), Justin Blackmon (2010 wide receiver), Quinn Sharp (2009 kickoff specialist, 2011 kickoff specialist), and Justin Gilbert (2013 defensive back) have all finished seasons with the strongest performances at their respective positions.

The purpose of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Twenty-one CFPA winners have been first-round NFL Draft selections. CFPA is in its seventh season of recognition, utilizing its player and team performance index across offense, defense, and special teams.
